What Are Keyboard Keycaps Used For?

Keyboard keycaps are plastic cap-shaped components installed on top of keyboard keys, directly in contact with the fingers. Their main functions include:

Identifying key functions: Letters, numbers, or symbols are printed on the surface to indicate the function of each key.

Affecting typing feel: The material, height, and shape directly affect the tactile feel and comfort when typing.

Determining keyboard appearance: Personalized aesthetic expression is achieved through color, patterns, and manufacturing processes.

Material determines durability and feel:

ABS: Smooth feel, rich colors, but prone to "oiling" (surface becomes shiny after wear).

PBT: Wear-resistant, oil-resistant, dry to the touch, but difficult to process and has limited color options.

POM: Self-lubricating, silky smooth feel, extremely wear-resistant, but limited color options (mostly black) and high cost.
